Various Sized Pipe Saddles for a Power Project

Piping Technology & Products, Inc. designed and manufactured pipe saddles for a power project in California.

The pipe saddles were built for 12", 24" and 30" pipe and the loads varied from 1,500 pounds to a maximum design load of 20,000 pounds. The saddle and its components will hang from a beam in the field by spring hangers to complete what is known as a "trapeze" pipe hanger assembly. In order to prevent movement, the supported pipes will be secured to the curved portion of the saddle with u-bolts.

If you are in need of pipe saddles, let us know! We would be glad to help you.

Big Ton Springs Equipped with Special Rollers
Big Ton Springs Equipped with Special RollersPiping Technology & Products, Inc. specially designed and fabricated big ton springs equipped with special rollers to accommodate moving apparatuses and support piping at a refinery in India.

The specially designed big tons were made to support loads ranging from 55,000 lbs. to 114,000 lbs with no more than 5/16" upward movement. Its composition comprises of A-36 carbon steel, built to a maximum height of 23-5/8".

The special rollers installed on the top (see photo at top right) of the load flange, keeps the aforementioned loads moving smoothly under all kinds of conditions. To further assure their quality, each of the big ton spring assemblies underwent load testing and afterward were hot dipped galvanized to prevent against corrosion.

Sludge Tank Vent Ducts

Sweco Fab, Inc. recently designed and manufactured sludge tank vent ducts for a development project in Chad, Africa.

Due to the thin wall and height of the cylinder shell it was required to add a stiffing ring between the cylinder shell and flange. Each duct was 12 ¼" I.D. x 104 7/8" high and weighed approximately 96 pounds. They were painted inside and out per System 6E grey color.

Hold Down Pipe Clamps for an Engineering and Construction Company

Piping Technology & Products manufactured 2" hold down pipe clamps (figure HD-1) for an engineering and construction company.

The figure HD-1 is PT&P's anchor type hold down and is usually used on pipe lines where little or no insulation is required. These hold down clamps were constructed of SA36 carbon steel for temperatures to 750ºF.

Vertical F-Type Constants for Power Plant

Vertical F-Type Constants for Power Plant

Vertical F-Type Constants for Power Plant

Piping Technology & Products custom designed and manufactured vertical F-type constants for a power plant in Connecticut.

The 100 type F is a vertical constant designed to support piping from below with minimum space usage. The dimensions of the constant are 26-5/8" high, 10" wide, and 17-9/16" long with an operating load of 280 lbs.

This particular F constant, was unusual in that it was furnished with a vertical spring that attaches below the frame of the constant. In addition to a downward travel of 3", the flange table shifts forward at 1-3/8" to minimize axial movement.

A galvanized finish was applied to the constant to prevent corrosion. The constants can be bolted on or welded to the support or steel underneath.

Big Ton Springs Equipped with Lifting Lugs

Piping Technology & Products, Inc. specially designed and fabricated big ton springs equipped with side lifting lugs to support piping of a 102-megawatt, refinery cogeneration power plant in California.

Under typical circumstances, this type of job application would utilize variable spring hangers, but because of the restricted space, the hangers' size would be too small to support a hot load of 19,068 lbs and cold load of 17,212 lbs. In order to satisfy both the required loads and space, PT&P engineers designed and fabricated figure 500 big ton springs equipped with side lifting lugs. The lifting lugs were attached to allow the big ton to suspend as a variable spring would in the field.

Variable Springs to Meet Travels Needed to Support Furnace Tubes of a Hydrogen Reformer

Variable Springs to Meet Travels Needed to Support Furnace Tubes of a Hydrogen Reformer Piping Technology & Products, Inc.  specially designed and fabricated hundreds of altered Type A variable spring hangers in order to accommodate the special travel and spring rate needed to support the furnace tubes of a hydrogen reformer in Venezuela. In order to accommodate customer specified travel and spring rate, modified spring coils were required. With a travel of 8 7/8, the variable spring hanger casing lengths were increased from the standard size of 32 inches to over 6 feet long. The calculated spring rate is 79 lb/sq in for an operating load of 2,804 lbs. and installed load of 3,505 lbs. The housings are coated with a heat resistant paint, which protects the spring coils from corrosion and high temperatures of the furnace area.

PT&P Custom Designs and Fabricates Big Ton Springs Equipped with Lifting Lugs

Big Ton Springs

Piping Technology & Products, Inc. specially designed and fabricated big ton springs equipped with side lifting lugs to support piping of a 102-megawatt, refinery co-generation power plant in California.

Under typical circumstances, this type of job application would utilize variable spring hangers, but because of the restricted space, the hangers’ size would be too small to support a hot load of 19,068 lbs and cold load of 17,212 lbs.  In order to satisfy both the required loads and space, PT&P engineers designed and fabricated figure 500 big ton springs equipped with side lifting lugs. The lifting lugs were attached to allow the big ton to suspend as a variable spring would in the field.

The big ton springs are comprised of A-36 carbon steel and built at 13"x 23"x 9-1/2" with a downward travel of .232". The job was completed within two days to meet the customer’s quick turn requirements.

Rods and Clevises for a Natural Gas Combined Cycle Facility

Piping Technology & Products, Inc. designed and manufactured hundreds of hanger rods and clevises for a 1,250 MW natural gas combined cycle facility in Mississippi.

The rod and clevis components were made of various alloys (800H, F91, 316H, SA-387 Gr. 22) and ranged in sizes from 2" to 4" diameter. Taking into account the surrounding environment's conditions, engineers designed the rods and clevises so that they can endure temperatures escalating to 1430º F. For the duration of a pull test conducted, the clevises and rods sustained loads up to 152,000 lbs. and there were no discrepancies.

4" Pig Launchers and Receivers for a Water Reclamation Plant

Sweco Fab, Inc. manufactured 4" pig launchers and receivers for a water reclamation plant in Savage, Maryland.

These launchers and receivers are to aid in the utilization of an oxidation ditch activated sludge process designed for nitrification / de-nitrification and phosphorous removal. The design consists of components such as T-bolt closures, side outlet tees and 4", 150-psi flanges with protectors. After being built to ASME, Sect. VIII, Div. 1, the launchers and receivers were shop prime painted to prevent against corrosion.
