Pipe Shoes to be Shipped to South Africa

Pipe Shoes to be Shipped to South Africa
Pipe Shoes to be Shipped to South AfricaThese pre-insulated pipe supports were manufactured for a Houston based engineering and construction company to complete an on-going project in South Africa. The polyurethane foam insulation is wrapped with a vapor barrier to prevent moisture, and the ends are coated with a monolar mastic paint to seal the pores. The carbon steel fabrication that surrounds the insulation has an elaborate three-coat paint system to help protect the steel from corrosion. This design allows for an integral combination of insulation and structural support in one pipe support assembly. It also minimizes labor in the field in regards to the installation of insulation.

Measuring Overall Length of the Support

Fifty Pre-Insulated Cryogenic Supports with PTFE, 25% Glass Filled, Slide Plates were manufactured for a 36” stainless steel piping system. The steel portion of the Cryogenic Supports is fabricated from ASTMA 240 Grade 304L stainless steel. The insulation used for the Slide Plate is Micarta, capable of supporting temperatures as low as -300°F. Each Pre-Insulated Cryogenic Support is 72” in length and weighs 2,000 lbs. It is designed to support the pipeline and accommodate 45” of axial travel at each support. They are used as Cryogenic Pipe Supports for a piping system that crosses a 1,000 foot suspension bridge.

These cold shoes are made of polyurethane for cryogenic pipe lines at a liquid nitrogen gas plant. They measure between 8” to 16” in diameter, 30” long with 4” of insulation. These cold shoes provide insulation in the support area where the regular pipe insulation (foam glass) is not sufficient to support the load.

4 Insulated Cold Shoe Supports for a Gas PlantThese cold shoes are made of polyurethane with an 8" thick insulation to fit a 30" pipe. The shoes are capable of insulating and supporting at temperatures as low as -360F. This allows for the LNG to be transported through the pipe at extremely low temperatures. These cold shoes were rushed to our client during a "turnaround" to replace the original supports that had failed.

The above design shows cryogenic pipe supports with Permali block. Permali block is a laminated phenolic material from layers of wood impregnated under vacuum and heat with synthetic resin. These pipe shoes can be designed to restrain very high axial, lateral and vertical loads. These shoes are used for LNG pipeline sliding supports with TEF slide plates.

Various Sized Cold Shoes for a Chemical Plant

Piping Technology & Products, Inc. designed and manufactured 250 variable sized cold shoes for a chemical plant in Texas.

These cold shoes are designed for cryogenic (low temperature) pipelines where direct contact with the pipe cannot be made.  These shoes come with two pieces, top and bottom, and are made of polyurethane foam.  They are then wrapped in vapor barriers, covered with a protective shield and placed in a pipe saddle.

Inside of the Pipe Anchor

Piping Technology & Products, Inc. manufactured cryogenic pipe anchors for gas refinery in Savannah, Georgia. The pipe anchors were fabricated with stainless steel and insulated with polyurethane foam. In order to prevent cold pumping, better known as temperature driven moisture penetration, polyurethane foam was poured around a stainless steel reinforcing pad. The ten cryogenic pipe anchors were fabricated to support 4-inch, 8-inch and 12-inch pipes. PT&P’s pre-insulated pipe supports department is devoted to the production of pipe insulation productions for both hot and cold applications.
