Structural Support Units for a Power Plant in California

Piping Technology and Products, Inc. recently designed and fabricated two structural pipe support units for a power plant in California.

The structural support pipes are made of A106 Gr. B; the beam, angle and plate are made of carbon steel. They have an overall height of 11 feet with a weight of 672 lbs. The purpose of these products is to support a 3 inch intermediate pipe.

These fabricated pipe shoes are manufactured to support pipes. The pipe shoes are fabricated out of A36 carbon steel with sizes ranging from 12 to 36. They have an overall weight of 134,000 lbs.

68 Sliding Cold Shoes with Lateral Restraint


Piping Technology and Products, Inc. recently fabricated and designed several sliding cold shoes with lateral restraint for a river site in Georgia. The sliding cold shoes have a frame of A36 carbon steel. These were designed to support pipes of 14 to 36 in diameter, insulated with 4.5 to 5 in thick layers of polyurethane foam.

Eight Custom-Built Variable Springs for a Power Plant


All of the spring components are made of A4150H and carbon steel. Per customer's request, a two coat epoxy paint was applied to the springs. The Type-A variable spring assemblies measure 22" x 79" with an installed load of 45,000 lb., operating load of 56,000 lb., and a downward travel of 5". The Type-C assemblies measure 22" x 89" with an installation load of 38,000 lb., operating load of 47,000 lb., and a downward travel of 5 1/2". Each spring coil was tested to insure the wire diameter, coil height, and spring rates.
