F-Type Variable Springs with Slide Plates
PT&P fabricated variable springs from hot-dipped galvanized carbon steel components and a neoprene coated spring steel coil. P.T.F.E. slide plates are welded to the load flange to reduce frictional forces generated during lateral movement of the supported pipe. Internal guides are also installed to help maintain vertical alignment of all moving components throughout the anticipated thermal deflection cycle. The installed (cold) load is set to 10,413 lb. With a design travel of 0.720” up, the final operating (hot) load will be 8,974 lb. Each spring is equipped with travel stops and went through load testing prior to shipping.

72″ I.D. Cryogenic Insulated Supports
PT&P manufactured 72" dia. insulated supports for temperatures as low as -260°F. The insulation is multi-layered comprised of polyurethane foam with a density of 20 PCF, a vapor barrier, an aluminum metal jacket, and acoustic pads. The acoustic pads are installed around the cold shoe to absorb vibration. The base and bearing plates are fabricated from carbon steel. The shoes will be used to support and insulate piping in a receiving & regassification plant and refinery.

Structural Pipe Hangers for a Pipe Seismic Restraint Project
Piping Technology & Products, Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary, Pipe Shields, Inc. designed and fabricated many structural pipe hangers for an on-going project to rebuild the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. The pipe hangers are made out of A-36 carbon steel and galvanized to withstand corrosion from the ocean waters and rough winds. These pipe supports will be welded to Pipe Shields’ C Model Anchor Plates, which are set in a cast concrete to the bottom cavity of the bridge.
Supports pictured utilize friction holding devices known as MegaLug®, which permit attachment to the pipes without welding. These supports were designed and fabricated to include improvements in regard to strength and durability to withstand high loads during earthquakes and other seismic events.

Hot Shoe for a Refining Company
This hot shoe was fabricated from carbon steel, calcium silicate and Firetemp®. Firetemp® is the insulation that carries the load of the pipe. In addition, calcium silicate was also used because it has a lower density, making it a better insulator. This shoe is used as a pipe support and can handle temperatures of up to 1,200F. It measures at 73 in diameter with 5 insulation and weighs 2,391lbs. This hot shoe was expedited in one week per customers request.

Pressure Vessel for a Chemical Company

Top of Pressure Vessel
This pressure vessel is manufactured from carbon steel SA516-70. Its diameter is 48 by 96 tangent to tangent and weighs 2,140 lbs. The pressure vessel is used as a process feed tank and was painted for rust resistance. In addition, the vessel was designed for pressures at 15 PSIG and temperatures at 86F. Hydro-tests were conducted at 20 PSIG and x-ray tests were completed to ensure quality performance.

Pre-Insulated Cryogenic Supports with PTFE, 25% Glass Filled, Slide Plates
Measuring Overall Length of the Support
Fifty Pre-Insulated Cryogenic Supports with PTFE, 25% Glass Filled, Slide Plates were manufactured for a 36” stainless steel piping system. The steel portion of the Cryogenic Supports is fabricated from ASTMA 240 Grade 304L stainless steel. The insulation used for the Slide Plate is Micarta, capable of supporting temperatures as low as -300°F. Each Pre-Insulated Cryogenic Support is 72” in length and weighs 2,000 lbs. It is designed to support the pipeline and accommodate 45” of axial travel at each support. They are used as Cryogenic Pipe Supports for a piping system that crosses a 1,000 foot suspension bridge.

2 Sway Strut Hangers for a Power Generating Station
Sway struts are used to restrain movement of piping in one direction while providing for movement due to thermal expansion or contraction in another direction. These sway struts are made of ASTM A387 GR22 weighing at 1,485 lbs each. They are 6" in diameter and 8'2" long and are used for main steam valve supports with specifically designed spacers, pins, and retainers capable of restraining movement up to 90,000 lbs at high temperatures exceeding 750F. The turnaround time for this was 6 weeks.
